Re: First feed (newbie question)
Oh here's hoping he did take it! Once they start showing a strong feeding response they will be no chance you won't know LOL. They hit strong and faster than the blink of an eye (at least ours do).
Remember if he did eat it to leave him alone for the next 48 hours so he can properly digest his meal in peace and quiet. Oh for the life of a well cared for snake...somebody to bring me my meals all nice and ready, then not bug me for awhile afterwards....now that's living! :D

Re: First feed (newbie question)
I just peeked and it is indeed gone :)
I also got a new glass door cut but fitting that will be pretty hard and I'll have to take Monty out so that's a job for tuesday evening after he has digested dinner.
Re: First feed (newbie question)
Yayyyyyy for Monty! Isn't it wonderful when you know they are feeding as they should. Always makes me happy when ours are happy and well-fed, you just feel you are on the right track with them.

Re: First feed (newbie question)
Yes it is a big relief, I'm paranoid about the slightest thing, just leaving him to get on with it (which I know is the best idea) is very hard.
He came out for a nap in the hotpot and I could see a baby rat sized lump, very cool :)
Re: First feed (newbie question)
I'm on call over the weekend so I decided to feed him tonight. This time it was totally unambiguous, he was out and about and I saw everything,. He lunged once and missed (I think he may have been tricked by the heatlamp), but on the second time BAM. It makes me very glad I went for a captive bred BP and very relieved that he is doing okay. Cute the way he insists on strangling an already dead ratling!
It is also kinda scary though, I see how easy a SFE could be and it looks like it would hurt a fair amount...
He would make mincemeat of a live mouse I think.
