That's really cool! ... But for your average ordinary ball python keeper (like many of the members of this site) that might not know a wire nut from a cashew, playing around with electronics can be a dangerous suggestion ... I've known of collections that have gone up in flames because of poorly wired thermos and heat tape.
I'd say stick with www.mgreptiles.com ... you'll get a great, safe, thermostat from a professional that can provide you support before and after the sale!

Like Adam said, be very careful if you want to wire the thermostat yourself (I am an engineer too....but I still got someone to wire my thermostat). I am sure Matt(justcage) can posts some pics of the insides of the the johnson thermostat if you really want to see the inner workings (ha ha...I know you have all kinds of thermostat pics Matt). I know that I enjoy when Matt posts things that he has taken apart to investigate and fills us in on his findings. Matt is the ONLY person that I will purchase heating equipment. I have purchased from him 5 times and each time was more than great. Matt knows his stuff :)
