I don't think the head is too small. I think they all have tiny heads until they get a lot older. Their necks thicken up. Mine look the same way. Little heads on a fat body. I think part of the reason for that is over feeding.

Mine sure isn't over fed, I would like for him to eat once a week but sometimes he doesn't agree with me [emoji36]

    His head looks normal sized.

Ball Pythons are considered some of the more "heavy bodied" snakes. Their heads tend to look small compared to their bodies. That said, I have noticed some have a bit of a bigger or smaller head, compared to others. Some have a shorter head. My Pastel Lesser girl has a very petite head, while my pastel Lesser girl has a really big and long head.

But all of their heads look small compared to body size.

Looks like he had a pretty bad injury to the head at one time and now the scales don't grow normal there ? The hard outer layer is missing (the actual scale). Doesn't look infected or like its causing any issues. Its giving him personality. I wouldn't worry about it.

He is a lucky snake to have ended up with you :)

He has never had an injury, unless he had it as a hatchling before being shipped to petsmart. He shed last night and his head piece came off as normal but you could tell on the skin that those scales don't have the "shine". [emoji848][emoji848]

Did he have the hard layer on the scales missing ever since you've had him ?

Or did he used to have normal scales on his head ?

When I got him they were all shiny, now they aren't, it's been this way for several months now, for sure no injuries since I have had him which had been for almost two years
