Oh dear, she's not even arrived and already the favoritism is setting in. Two nights in a row now i haven't handled Irwin b/c i've been too busy building the new enclosure. After much meditation i decided to once again go with my famous "side-saddle" tub technique. This tub is a bit bigger than Irwin's (though not enormously so) knowing she's going to outgrow it eventually, i wanted to buy myself a little bit of time to build a proper box, i'm hoping to get a year or two out of this one, although Irwin is almost due for an upgrade himself and its only been a year. But side-tub 2.0 will be much improved; new features include flex-watt, opaque walls, and the big one, insulation! (R-3)

    Irwin's setup

New Girl - Stage one - stage 2 will be heat (tape and RHP) stage 3 is insulation and ventilation.
Featured here is Rowdy the "Rubber boa" he's about 14 inches long - the tub is a 45 gallon (Irwin's is a 27)

Ohhh... Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! I know you've been trying to figure out the right addition for your home; if your posts about Irwin are any indication, this new little girl is going to get spoiled rotten. :)

So sometime this week (or maybe next, depending on shipping) I will have this lovely little yearling female jungle. She's possible het snow, but I don't breed so it's of little consequence, just thought I'd mention it. I have a very strong contender for a name, but I'm waiting until I actually have her to make sure it feels right.

These are the photos from the ad, I'm not entirely sure how old they are, but I'll upload updates as soon as I can.

Oye! I have to wait until Tuesday! Despite all my research, the one thing I was unaware of until today was that shipping live animals on a Thursday or a Friday is a no-no. Although in a coincidental twist of fate that means I will receive the new snake on the one-year anniversary of my acquisition of Irwin! Also it means I don't have to stay up all night tonight and tomorrow finishing side-tub 2.0 for Friday. So win-win, but I'm still dreading the next five days.
