    I always smell mine. I have used the same clump for months before. Honestly, it seems to be like one of those magic erasers. Over time, it becomes smaller and smaller, and I end up replacing it because it is no longer big enough to be of any help.

    Thanks all for the advice! I'm going to try turning my terrarium setup around and putting the lamp over the water. I'm also going to look into getting one of the better substrates mentioned. Might also get some moss too. Thanks everyone for sharing their two cents!!
