Thank gawd for a good hubby driving we are all okay (our youngest was in the car with us) and a nice couple that stopped to help as our flashlight was missing from the back of the station wagon (bet that youngest knows where it went! LOL).

Got back on the road, drove a lot slower home on the dumb donut thing and then 4 miles from our home at 12:45 in the freakin morning....our alternator died!!!! Two guys stopped and got the car boosted enough to get us home, just barely tho as the lights were dimming, and the car was dying as we rolled into the driveway. Oh btw, they were two repo guys (ain't that a hoot...they could have had my friggin car by that point!).

Our car was due in next week to have the manifold replaced....guess it's decided it wants a bit more done tho dying on a weekend that Mike had 20 hours of overtime booked for (and now cannot work), would have been a bit nicer. This free snake just cost us a bundle.

Anyway excuse the rant folks, I'm too stressed to sleep yet. On the upside, we are all okay, we are home safe and sound and Punkin is nicely ensconsed in her new Sterlite in our bedroom so it's all good.

Very glad you guys made it through that one :)

Thanks for all your good wishes. Punkin is settling in very well it seems. We've observed her/him drinking and using the warm side hide as well as a general cruise early this morning. We aren't handing at all at this point of course. What little time we did spend last night handling Punkin we did not she/he is quite a bit longer than 5 month old Baby but not a lot more girthy than we would have thought a snake 18 months old should be but in general the snake felt strong in our hands. No mites or ticks found. When we can handle Punkin we're going to have a good go over her/him as we know there's been a history of poor sheds and one incident with a cat (over a year ago) that supposedly left a very small scar.

All in all, considering the horrible trip to get Punkin we still feel it was very worth it and we all got home safe and sound so that's a blessing in itself.

Triangle shaped is the appearance it looks like to me. This usually is just underfed snake or juvenile who hasn't really developed a strong feeding response yet, not a whole lot to worry about unless it starts to lose weight. (This is all just my opinion for whatever its worth)

I would say that maybe she does look a tad underweight, but it is tough to say without physically holding her and feeling her body shape. And I am used to my own overfed snakes. ;)
I would do some soaking to get rid of that retained shed. I'd actually do it first-thing upon getting her home, before putting her into her actual cage. If you are unsure about going about that, just ask.
