Re: purchased snake with mites
Also. When my male yellow belly came home with mites, i surrounded the area around my female lemonblast with tape (sticky side up) because i was freaking out and in my head, if a mite tried to get to the female they would have to crawl through the tape. And of course they would have gotten stuck on it, and the female never got them eventhough they were close to each other.

Ok she only has paper towels and 2 hides the vet only wants her to have water for a few hours a day. Why havent i seen any yet tho? Just the couple at the vet and a couple on the hide last night.
Ill try the lice stuff cant find any PAM and the one i found on Amazon says it wont be here until the 24-1st
Is there a need to treat the surrounding area? The table shes on floor ect.?

This is how I got rid of them, and whatever method u use i really hope all the mites die
So i wipe it on to her or lay her it or what? Is it ok to do on the head around mouth and eyes and everything? And how many times do i treat her just once or ?

Re: purchased snake with mites
No water for 24 hours after any lice treatment, for my yellow belly i sprayed him with the mixture all over his body, and for the head I gently but firmly grabbed him by the back of the head and rubbed his head and under the head (mites love the head of the snake) and then i put him in a little container, like a deli cup, sprayed a little bit more inside the deli cup (avoid the head) he was only able to fit if he was coiled and there wasnt space for him to move, i left him like that for 20 minutes with the lid on (watch him so he doesnt drink any of the mix)and i saw LOTS of dead mites and then i just placed him back in his enclosure with paper towels and a hide (no water for 24 hours) also, boil the stuff in his cage (hides, logs, branches) dont bleach them, i only did it once and im looking at him right now, not a single mite left

Re: purchased snake with mites
So, this is the to do list:
Bleach cage (even cracks and crevices)
Boil everything
Let bleach fumes evaporate
Put paper towels, boiled (and of course, already cooled) hides, and no water
After that follow the treatement i described
IMPORTANT: DO NOT bleach the cage and boil the stuff and then put your snake in if you havent done any mite treatment, because the mites on the snake will just go back to laying eggs on the crevices and you would have done all of that for nothing, mites lay eggs on the cage and the substrate, and they feed off your baby, but they dont lay eggs on her/him
NOTE: make sure to smell the cage and if it still smells like bleach keep rinsing with water, until all the bleach goes away
This is my method, it worked for me and if you follow it I really hope it works for you
ANOTHER NOTE: make sure the lice medicine is diluted in the water (more water than medicine) if its right you should see dead mites really soon, they die quick with that stuff, but you dont want it too strong

Re: purchased snake with mites
If you want you could clean her table just to be sure, and last thing, if you keep finding living mites you can do the treatment again the next week, if you have any questions or doubts feel free to message me, i know how scary and bad mites can be

Re: purchased snake with mites
And i want to point out that my snake was a baby when i did this and he is happy, eating shedding, and being a normal ball python mite-free ever since

Ok i did all that. When i sprayed her a bit then rubbed some on her head and chin and then set her in the tub and sprayed her left her for 20 min and theres only 2 that were in there... So i looked her over there were still mites on her chin i got the ones off that i could but theres srill some in there.😔

So i found out why that wasnt working so well. Theyre in her pits and all inside her eye. So what do i do with that
