    Congrats on the successful lock!

If that is a pre-lay shed, she wouldn't normally be receptive to locking with a male (and there would be no reason to pair her), as she would have already ovulated. In my experience, a shedding female is usually a very receptive female. I think that's what's going on here.

Good luck with this pair, Albert! :gj:

Thanks Eric, I was actually on the fence about the ovulation and I had asked about opinions in another thread on the possibility of the possible ovulation. VMS herpetoculture says if unsure it can't hurt to continue pairing post ovulation. Either way , I appreciate your input and experience. I need to keep better records of pairings and dates in the coming months. Thanks again. I know the shedding is key but I thought it was post shed when the pheromonal off gassing (scent) was highest and that the male would be more receptive at that time?

Love pieds! My pied should be laying in a week. Not to burst your bubble, but pretty sure they don't lock if she actually has ovulated and is in prelay shed so she's most likely still building. I sometimes stick a male back in with a female if I question an ovy and take it as a good sign if they DONT lock.

Thanks EDR! This pair produced 5 eggs last year. But this time i added the pastel pied male first. Both males have locked with her numerous times over the past 4 to 5 months. Good luck and success with your projects. :D

This was the original way the eggs looked 3 days after being laid and at unfortunately sub optimal tub temp of 81F ( thought it was 87.5).https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...age_312382.jpg

This is how they look today after correcting the temperature in the tub 12 days ago. Corrected to 88.5F - 89.5F. Humidity percent was constantly at 99% with press and seal in place. Accurite is showing incorrect humidity percentage.https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...ge_251978.jpeg
