^^^^^Exactly why my last two cages have Glass sliders as well as my T-25 on order.

My snakes are adult Boas and Carpets.(I do have one BP) They put a permanent bow in the plastic doors on two cages. When they escaped the door was bowed enough for a snake the girth of a quart of milk to squeeze through. One Boa escaped as well as one Carpet Python. (Two different cages).

I turned the doors around so that the bow faced inward. No problem for Mack, one of my Coastal Carpets. He had so much strength pushing against that inward bow, rather than being able to bend the door back, the springing action of him pushing completely ripped the bottom track out! :O This essentially blew both doors out as well!
I was watching TV in another room and I had the sound up loud. The crashing noise from Mack was so loud that I thought someone broke into house. I was in shock when I found the doors, track, and Mack all laying on the floor. :O After I got over the shock, I couldn't help but laugh. :)

Needless to say, I am anti-plastic sliding doors, at least for big snakes.

Now, even with glass doors they must be slid shut all of the way. If the snake can wedge any of it's head between the wall and glass they can slide the door open enough to escape. Thus, don't get lazy with the sliding door, it's easy to do.

KMG already covered how they come off but I have my 6.5' BCI girl in a T10 and has pushed on the doors and even fell into them when she was playing on her shelf and it makes heck of a lot of noise but they are secure. I definitely wouldn't worry about a BP getting out. I even had my 4' BP girl in a T10 too and she cruised all over at night and it was fine.

Also if you are worried, just order the locks. Its only $20. I always order the locks for all my AP cages just in case I need them. But honestly if your husbandry is set right and you aren't starving your snakes, they generally aren't going to be pushing so hard as to break a track. It would take some serious determination to do that.

I have three 36" Neodesha black stacking cages with glass sliding doors. They came with plastic white pins to block the doors from sliding open, but the pins were too difficult for me to get out of the middle and bottom cage due to clearance. I bought a few wooden yard sticks for $1 each and a can of black spray paint for $5, cut them to the snug length needed, painted them, and just place them in the glass tracks. The snakes can't lift them out or slide the door open. And it looks nice painted the same color as the cage.

All our T8s have sliding glass doors with locks (we also have three taller AP cages with swinging acrylic doors - like the sliding glass better for 2' tall and under cages). In our house the locks are for peace of mind in terms of keeping the snakes in, and worth the price.
