Again, it's from an ad I found on kijiji so I'm not sure how they treat their animals. Maybe the reason the price is a little less than I expected (I'm in Canada so the prices are higher here) is because he doesn't take good care of his animals

The only thing that puts me off about all of this is that, in my opinion, someone working with high demand and expensive combos like that would take better care of the animals. I can't see someone investing a good amount of money (much less time and effort) in a project just to neglect the product and risk losing out because the babies are sickly and may not make it.
They may have both been problem hatchlings from the beginning and that may be why the price is so low and their condition is how it is, but that's just speculation. I'd do a BOI search on the persons name and if you're curious about the general health of the animals, maybe look at his other ads or ask for current photos of the siblings.

Those are current photos, the ones in the ad didn't have any stuck shed, they looked fine which is why the price confused me. He had a bunch of stuff all listed in one ad ranging from a super OD yellowbelly to normals and other single gene codoms. It seems as though he had maybe like 5 or so clutches and is trying to sell them all in one ad. All of his prices were really cheap, but he said he was a student (which I can relate to) so maybe that's why his prices are so cheap? Maybe he needs to sell the babies as fast as possible so he sells them at lower prices?
The main thing that concerns me (other than the possibility of them being dehydrated) is that the first one has stuck shed and its going into another shed cycle so it must have been stuck for a long time. I asked him about it and he said he didn't want to bother them by removing the shed. Is that a common practice or is that just him being lazy? I know whenever any of my animals have a bad shed I always help them.
Can you tell me what a BOI search is or direct me to where I would do that?

Seems like some people makes a big deal out of stuck shed
Truth is stuck shed happen whether you own 1 or 100 snakes especially during the winter months, it does not mean the animal is neglected or not taken care of just means you have to deal with a stuck shed we all do.
Anyone that has never experienced stuck shed has either not have had many animals or not for long enough, it happens to EVERYONE even the most reputable breeders out there.
Now does it look professional to show pictures of an available animal with a stuck shed? No but again everyone run their hobby/business differently some people care to show the best some care a little less and I have seen far worse, I would rather get that snake than one photographed in a dirty cage or on a stained carpet.

Thanks for this, that's exactly what I needed. I tend to overthink things and the only other time I bought an animal from someone who wasn't a well known breeder the vet bills ended up being about 4X what the animal cost. I just don't want that to happen again. In case it wasn't clear I've dealt with stuck shed before I've just never seen people leaving it on to prevent stress in the animals but I guess I can see the logic behind it.
Thanks again!
