How is it a stretch? It's called piano cover for a reason, because the piano is covering the entire songs musical notes.
Also earlier in the thread I stated my music history. However, I have friends who teach piano and guitar for a living.

(I play piano, I took CM test every year up to level 8)
You can definitely create piano covers that include the vocals notes and sound good. I think just the video cletus posted isn't the best example of it haha
A cover is just remaking whatever song with whatever instrument you want, and you're not exactly restricted to only playing the instrumentals of the original song, you can do whatever you want to make a cover. For example, all the My Heart Will Go On covers. If we're just playing the instrumentals of that song without mixing in the vocals, it wouldn't work as a standalone song... I mean, unless the intention of playing is just to play the support instrumentals, then that's fine too, but it would sound pretty repetitive LOL

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a piano cover has vocals, wouldn't it just be a cover then? Or shouldn't the guy have put piano cover with vocals? That's my understanding when I asked.

I hear you. Was just curious. I must have missed that earlier in the thread. Was just wondering if you were a musician or not. I think you can play any song on an alternate instrument and toss some vocals in there and call it a [insert instrument]cover. To each his own. I don't think either of us is wrong here. It's just an opinion.

Oh no doubt. I wish I could play the piano. I don't even know how to read music. I was offered highly discounted lessons, but she said it would be awhile before I could play. I don't have the patience to learn it now.

Oh, I see what you mean, the semantics? I'm not sure about that, but I always thought by "piano cover" it just meant "a cover done using a piano" haha

Re: Piano Covers
I think like Neal when it comes to this, if I'm looking up a piano cover I expect it to be just piano.

Okay I think I totally missed the point LOL! I thought by piano with vocals, yall were meaning "piano notes that include the vocal TUNE of the song", so still all piano. I didn't watch cletus video long enough to realize he actually started singing hahah
