This is the terrarium now without the log:

as you can see shes hiding in the right side (left to right its warm to cool) and this is the branch i was talking about. I kinda have it in there for fun but maybe if it becomes a problem with her sitting up there more often than hiding then i'll remove it. i went and bought the lil cave that was linked in this thread at the local reptile store :> thanks for the suggestion, it looks nice and snug. hopefully she'll like it!

I use 2 of the exo-terra rock hides,,, both hides are the same size, i buy 2 with each order, so i can match the sizes in the tank. I used the smallwhile they were babies, then when they no longer fit i go up one size, but always change both at the same time. My guy loves to climb his rock wall but never sleeps up there. My guy is now in large exo-terra rock hides. Your cool side should be near 78-80 hot around 88-90, and ambient arount 78-80 humidity 55-65. Good luck with your new pet.

Is it possible that shes just hungry and is looking for prey uptop of the branch? She only goes to the top of the branch at night it seems.

Re: BP Sleeping near top of the cage? Not sleeping in hides?
Balls are not arboreal. They do not generally seek out high spaces. Its either a temperature issue or a security issue in my opinion. Of course i am certainly no expert.

There's no reason to take away the log hide while you're waiting for another one; and for that matter, you can always leave it in there even when the other one comes. More hides isn't bad. My snake uses one during the day and a different one at night, and usually pees in one of the others.

But anyway, you mentioned she's new. I would be more inclined to leave things alone for the most part, except for adjusting to stabilize the temperature and little things like that. She's still figuring out where stuff is in her new environment, and a "high" perch on a branch in the corner isn't exactly a treetop! Maybe it feels secure because she's in there between the corners and the ceiling. Or maybe she's decided it's a good spot to ambush prey from. But as long as she basically has what she needs, I would leave her alone and let her settle in without changing things around all the time. Her habits may well change as she gets accustomed.
