I've got two youngster and they still both rear up with gaping mouths as in the top photo - each feed time or when I go to get hold of them :)

The male has bug-eyes apparently common in LTRs but it actually make him look even more endearing and cute ...

I'll try and get a short video of them performing and upload it sometime :)

Definitely. I just find an all white snake with blue eyes fascinating.

They're both around 15" and slender at the moment but I'm looking forward to when they're much bigger as they'll be much more visually impressive ...

Most definitely. I'm going to be working slowly with my rat to get him a bit more relaxed.

Well, both choices have a lot going for them, so it really depends on what YOU want from a snake. I have no experience with the Kunashir rat snake,
but I've had some wonderful Bairds and they might be too docile for you? They tend to be large but laid back snakes, & I don't think most photos do
them justice. Some have huge amounts of orange or yellow between the scales that to me resembled an impressionist painting, very interesting up
close. The Kunashir sorta resembles my Korean rat snake, both physically and what I just read of their temperament. (my Korean is a nut case...)
So as I said, it depends what you're looking for in terms of handling etc.
