The temp on the paper towel never goes over 91 or below 88. A 3 degree variance is nothing to worry about right? The cool side stays right around 76, w really no variance at all. I keep my house pretty warm, just for the snakes, I don't mind it. The issue is the humidity. I need to actually LOWER it a little more. I guess I need to drill even more holes in the tub, even though there are already like 25. But it stays right around 70 percent. That's not going to hurt them I don't think, but I do wanna get it down to 60. I've tried a slightly smaller water bowl, with no change, so I'm guessing it's ventilation. Anyways, thanks again you guys for all your advice!

There's nothing wrong with 70% humidity with good ventilation and dry substrate, or even higher. It's only high humidity and no air flow that is a problem.

My house is 70% humidity in the summer, so that's how it is even without an enclosure.

Ah, that's the kind of setup I use and love! Nice job, OP! :snake:

    My amazingly PERFECT BP setups.
It's a bit like having a Goldfish in a tank with one little tunnel to swim through , though ...

Let's hope that snakes don't have brains :)

Hmmmm... comparing a Ball Python to a goldfish? Lol, I get it. You don't agree w my setup. That's fine. It is temporary like I've said... but ball pythons live in dark rodent burrows and termite mounds in their natural habitats. Not sure how interested in branches they are. But I do agree w putting some sort of foliage in there at some point in the near future.

And I'm not sure what the "let's hope snakes don't have brains" line was supposed to mean.

That is the setup I had them started in. 2 almost identical setups. Plenty of "foliage", but I could just tell that it was too much space and because of the glass they felt too exposed. Once they start putting on some size and become more comfortable in their own skin (so to speak), I will transfer them back. But for right now, them feeding is what's most important to me. It's no different than say many breeders tubs. From what I hear from REPUTABLE people, this setup just WORKS with BP's

We'll that looks fabulous , that said I reckon if you'd have put black paper on the sides and back of the Viv , add more foliage and some branches , plus another hide or two of some kind and they'd have been fine and dandy in there I reckon .

Apologies for the flippant remark ... I just hate seeing snakes in bare rubs with a hide and a water dish .

Sure in the wild - they hide in holes and tunnels during daylight hours so they stay in the hides whilst in the vivs .....but in the evenings these very same nocturnal snakes come alive and start investigating , Royals will climb in branches EVERY single evening given the chance ...

Incidentally your Butter Royal will look amazing on dark coloured Orchid bark ( maybe even the Mohave to a lesser extent ...

If your BP is stress free and eating your setup is fine, BP do not care about aesthetic their owner do, and BP are ground dwellers.

So if it WORKS and you are happy their is no need to make any changes if you don't want to, just because of what others may think.
