Maybe I shouldn't use just water then... :s Would using just perlite and water filled up almost to the top underneath the egg crate work?

Would not using the seal wrap over the tub, so letting in some air circulation, prevent condensation? Would it work?

Egg boxes seems difficult to setup but it's really easy.

    Here is what I do

I have 7 quarts sterilite eggs boxes with light difuser, in which I put 4 cups of perlite, and 2 cups of water, and I do not use press and seal.

This has never failed me, condensation is close to none, it only starts building up during the last week of incubation which is normal as the egg temperture will rise up.

It's a fool proof headach free method for me, eggs don't dry out or get wet. I put them in the incubator and forget about them for the next couple of weeks ;)

It's like everything else different people different ways, when I produced my first clutch that the route I chose because my main fear was getting egg to wet or to dry because of failure to mix the substrate improperly with the traditional egg in the substrate method. It worked for me and I never felt the need to try anything else when it comes to incubation, the only thing I have changed is the temp at which I incubate, I have done anywhere from 86 to 90 and now I do 88.5 every year. ;)

I feel like I may keep bumping this thread with questions throughout the breeding season at this rate... LOL

I can't seem to get a straight answer for this one- if you pair a male and female when the female has not yet developed palpable follicles, is it still possible for her to ovulate from that one pairing?

And will females always develop follicles every year during the cold season, even without pairing?

    +1 more...
Should I only start pairing when I feel significant follicles on the female?
