Re: Natural disaster preparation for snakes?
I'm in jersey- and I'm getting antsy. Since hubby is emergency personnel im alone during all storms. With no car. If we ever get an evacuate order I'm just gonna be stuck.

Matthew's current predicted track is... interesting. It's either going to skirt the Carolinas and then head northeast out to see, or it's going to loop around and take a whack at Florida again.

I hear you. I had to run from the Slide Fire in May of 2014, and evacuated with the geckos, beardie, and dog. (I didn't have snakes then.) One thing I learned is that if you keep plastic kritter keepers around to use in case you need to evacuate herps, it's a good idea to keep a piece of paper towel in between the stacked cages. I spent a lot of time fighting to get the things apart when time was precious.

As others have pointed out, definitely a generator & clean water. In some natural disasters the first thing that becomes paramount is water. I drink a lot of milk, so after I'm done with the milk, I rinse/wash the jug and put clean water in them. I do boil it with my electric kettle thing but in the event the water becomes contaminated, I've got clean water for myself and my snakes. I don't have a generator, but my mom does and so I could easily put the 3.5 cu chest freezer I have in my truck and take it to her house.
