Do you guys change the substrate immediately after the snake urinates? Because I fed the snake, and then he urinated right after. Do I wait a day, or change it now?

I usually change it as soon as i notice. I try to check every day or two.

I changed most of the paper towel, except the one under the hide box where the snake is right now. I think I will wait until tomorrow for that. It smells pretty awful when I remove the lid though! It's not how I expected snake urine to smell. Anyway, the good news is that 30 seconds after dangling the warm thawed mouse in the enclosure, he took it. I plan on feeding 3 more fuzzy mice and then moving on to similarly sized rats. Very pleased to see that he is not a picky eater right now! I guess that means the husbandry must be okay, or at least that he is well-tempered.

Incidentally , what are you using to get the warm / cool side temps ?

The white thermometer in the photo presumably reads the surrounding temps unless there are wired probes connected to it ?! I'm not familiar with that model .

Can't agree , sadly . The vines help to make the Royal more secure in my opinion . I'd put even more in and a couple of branches as well tbh . Royals love to climb and explore . They're fake anyway so they can be swilled under a tap easy enough ..

Edit . Just noticed the white wire from the thermometer/ hygrometer ..

Why not have that white thermometer stuck on the outside of the box ??
