I have several VE-200s and love them.
My old Helix has been going for about 6 years without a problem too.
I do have a new VE that has been in the box for 3 or 4 years as a backup just in case.:rofl:

So the only difference I see between the herpstat 1 basic and 1 is the humidity control and $25 more ?

Mechanical relay, it acts as a mechanical safety, personally I think that is what's worth the extra money. That's the difference between the intro and intro + also.

Looks like probe connection is similar to a 3.5mm head phone jack? Look at pictures it's the one to the bottom right ithttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f73269be1a.jpg

I have 4 VE 200s. I like them well enough. I would have preferred the herpstat but VEs were available on amazon and herpstats weren't. They were gifts from a client so I'm not complaining! But if I had to buy one with my own money i would definitely go with the herpstats.

Yes it is the 3.5mm jack. The most important thing in that pic is the 4th line down in description where it says it leaves out the safety relay. The safety relay makes it so if it fails it shuts off instead of running in on position, that is the number 1 reason why the Herpstat 1 is better than the 1 basic.
