Some ball pythons just have some latent attitude, I got a yellow belly het gs sub adult and I could hold her non stop and let her lay in bed with me. One day I went to feed my monitor and she threw herself at the cage to try and strike me. Ever since then she's been a mean little pest. I also have a pastel champ sable with the same issue but she's not a sub adult so I think it's just a defense response. I mean we're huge giant monsters to them lol. Handle your ball python more and let it learn to trust you. Just be careful, don't go throwing or dropping in fear.

I keep getting mixed info on his handling. Some are saying leave him be for a while others are saying keep handling him. When he struck at me he was in his tank, i just wanted to look at him. But when I do ACTUALLY handle him, he is great. Still shy but I mean he is a baby and I am the first person to really handle since he was a pet store snake. I am hoping after his feeding tomorrow he calms down and that maybe he is just hungery. Because USUALLY I can do the same. He chills in bed with me he's bumped my nose . I know they dont actually kiss you or anything but he's not afraid to crawl on my face and get nose to nose with me. But yesterday and today he has been...Moody while in his tank. I posted a pic of what his ten gal tank looks like. He is actually chilling on his temp gage right now...that seems to be his favorite spot.

You can try and post your picture to photobucket or imgur first and then use the code to link it to forum posts. That way you don't have to upload it to your gallery :gj:
As for how often you should handle your snake, I think it definitely depends on how much your snake can tolerate and how well he has adapted. I got mine and he was very strikey the first day just because I switched him from a tub to a 20gal long. Plus he was stressed from being shipped over night. I left him alone for about 4 days, fed him, handled him 48 hours after feeding and he's doing extremely well now. Before I left for college, I handled him practically everyday for short periods of time until he was used to being out more. Now he can come out for an hour and be totally fine. Now I come home every weekend to feed and spot clean and it almost seems like he's dying to be held lol. Crawled right into my hand when I opened the enclosure.
You just have to figure out what works for you and your snake. There is no set rule about it in my opinion. He may just need to get used to your heat signature. I know mine struck at my friend once through the glass when she got near it but was fine when I went near him. I also always sanitize my hand before picking him up or going into his enclosure if it's not feeding time. He has associated that scent with handling time and not time to hunt! :P
Just keep in mind that they're shy and defensive and they think the world is out to eat them. Over time he should calm down and get used to you. Or maybe he just gets Hangry lol! :D
