Re: Shots of my new babies, Lesser x Pastel
Based on the two I know are lesser pastels, I kind of think the mom has a hidden gene like the daddy gene. The amount of fading on them exceeds my expectations and pictures I have seen of other lesser pastels.
I can definitely see the genetic striping in both adults, the mother's is slightly patched into her sides, but it's still prominent, while the father has a very defined stripe, which the babies all ended up with (possibly more so than his).
The father was from Adam back when 8-ball pythons was a thing, while the mother was an after thought dirty pastel from a local breeder who sold her to me for 60 (pastels were about 100 at the time) with my fire (who passed due to eating problems -refusing to eat more than once every 3 months- a couple years back, she was found to be malnourished but without other health problems that may have caused it, and I tried everything I could to get her to eat, she just wasn't interested even in lives or gerbils or asfs). Surprising that this breeding turned out so well, considering I hadn't intended on it in the first place.

Agreed - the side pattern looks too high up and disrupted. Now what I don't know is if you are thinking black pastel/ cinny or yellowbelly or something else as the other gene.
Care to fess up for us terminally befuddled gawpers? :P
Re: Shots of my new babies, Lesser x Pastel
I honestly have no idea. All I have is the dirty pastel (which is really good looking in my opinion, but she wasn't exactly praised for her pastel-y ness), from a local breeder and I don't even know what he was working with at the time, other than the fire and the pastel. As for the lesser, Adam was amazing with BPs, but he isn't really reachable to find out what was bred to what in the clutch. So I have a nice solidly striped Lesser sold to me as such back in like 2009/2010, and a dirty pastel who was sold to me as such in like 2008. The end result is a bunch of little babies which are god knows what, other than lesser/pastels/normals. And I am stunned these babies came out of the egg looking like someone through another gene in the mix, more so that 2 are lessers, 2 are/were normals, and the other 5 are lesser/pastel/something more.
The only gene I can think of that could have done this is the daddy gene. I'm sure if Adam had recessives in the parents he knew of he would have told me, as for the pastel, well that's anyone's guess, for all I know it had ever recessive in the world XD

Darn, I missed it. If anyone wants to merge posts, feel free, if not, eh doubles aren't the end of the world.
The only picture I still have of the mother as a baby:
