The general view seems to be that reptile lives are worth less than standard domesticated mammals. And even if a group were created on a nationwide scale, what authority would they have to enforce change? None, they could preach to deaf ears until blue in the face and still have made no progress. Without laws to protect these animals from abuse, and create consequences for such actions, we have to live with a sinking feeling in our stomach and heavy hearts.
