Kai is too precious! A late congratulations on picking him up.

They do calm down over time as they grow. One of our gals was a real spit fire, but after a few months she realized we weren't predators and now she's a total sweetheart :) Kai will get there too.

    Very nice!

The experience will be very rewarding, beyond beauty and coloring, if you plan to cage your carpet in a semi naturalist setup. I've been having discussions elsewhere about the activity levels of carpet pythons. Generally speaking, they are one of the more rewarding display snakes out there.

I have a coastal mutt that hasn't stopped moving yet this morning. TV is nothing compared to watching her. She has been at it for about 2 hours and I'm expecting her to settle in for the day.

You will more than likely see the same behavior from that pretty jungle of yours.

I'm not sure of your experience level, but I used to present my hand as a tight, closed fist and that seemed to deter a bite. My big hand was too big to attack. I also started handling with a perch. My girl would use the perch but would also crawl over my hand. She was secure on the perch and got used to me quickly. I think I took 3 bites from her when she was small, and now I can't even force her (not that I'm trying) to bite me.

On my "want list" there are 3 snakes, and I think adding another coastal carpet or bredli ranks #1 on that list.

You made a great choice. I recommend setting that snake up to fully enjoy it. You won't be sorry.
