With my thermometer probe I like to have it IN the hot hide so I get the temperature of the inside of the hide.
When I've got the temp perfect I'll check the hottest part (on top of the hide) with the ir heat gun. That way I know when the thermometer reads 32c inside the hide, the top of the hide is 35c at the hottest part which is in the safe zone. . This is just the way I like to do it though, there are many different ways :)

    Re: Measuring & Increasing Temps?
I put some towels on the top panels to see if it's worth buying Thermawrap (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE) and the temps actually rose to 79.7F and 84F in around 2 minutes.

I moved the hide so I could place both probes under the centre of the CHE, but the temps didn't change so I moved everything back to where it was in the pics.
I think I'll just cover the top with Thermawrap and use the temp gun to check temps of the hottest surfaces and inside the hides. Does that sound like a good plan?

It's up to you But IMO if your not using the thermometer to measure eather the hot hide or the hottest part then there's no real point in having it in the viv.
But ye the thermawrap or something like that is very much worth having:)

Yes that does look like the same thing but in a different brand. It is essentially foil wrapped insulation. It has many uses and I find it incredibly versatile.

I ended up putting the thermometer probes in the hides, thanks for the advice!
