Ball Python Rescue

so far the only time he is in his hide is when i'm not around.. I'm bringing home my web cam so i can record a few days of his routine.. my guess is he is in his hide all day long except when i come home for lunch and in the evenings when i'm out at friend or on the town .. i guess i'll find out with the web cam.. Maybe my hide needs to be bigger.. Ugh .. maybe i need a bigger cage in general .. so much to learn .. :-\

hides.... should be small enough that the snake can feel touched on all sides
tank... depends on how big your snake is. i have two bps that are two feet long and they are in 30 gallon tanks.

We use two hides, one on the cool side, one on the warmer side....we just bought terracotta planter pot bottoms (for the water overflow). WalMart/Home Depot/Lowe's all sell them in tons of sizes, seperate from the pots. You can just chip a nice entrance hole out carefully with a small hammer, then sand the roughness off and bingo.....hide that works and has a nice flat roof for lazing about as well LOL. Our snake is small so I think our small terracotta hides were under $2.00 each.


When we got our new snake it was recommended to put it on layers of papertowels for awhile until we got urates/bowel movements, easy to see if normal and also for collection for the vet. So far the paper towels have worked beautifully tho we will likely to to cypress mulch (double milled) shortly.
