Yes, cottonmouths are one of our venomous snakes. Have a great time in Florida! Since you will be in Kissimmee, I hope you are doing Disney (I go every couple weeks, and it still never gets old-especially drinks around the world at Epcot!) [emoji4]

Don't see many snakes in the wild here in Massachusetts. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen anything besides a garter. I wish there were a lot more around. I'm jealous of your Florida wildlife, that's just awesome!

So why is Florida so packed with wildlife ??

Simply down to the climate or is it the situation as well ??

I used to live in MA, myself. Never saw any snakes there, either. I definitely think the wildlife (including sea life) is the best thing about living here [emoji4]

I think it is definitely the climate. Especially Southern FL which has a tropical climate. The only downfall is that it is one of the reasons that invasive lizards and other animals flourish.

It's surrounded by water so it's easily accessible to other countries , maybe that's partly why the wildlife is so rock and varied .. ??

I'm going to Florida for Easter .... The little boy in me would love to smuggle back a little lizard or something although I'd never be reckless or brave or even DAFT enough to try ...

Oh no kidding?? That's cool. I'm guessing you don't miss it, hahaha. We got hit with over 3 feet of snow in the last 7 or 8 days, uggggh. Yeah, I occasionally see a garter, but not much else as far as reptiles. Occasionally deer and every few years I'll see a black bear, and it seems like I'm seeing deer and bears more often because their homes are being torn down for condos, malls, etc... and they are forced towards more rural areas. I do absolutely adore squirrels, and we've got plenty of them!! I can literally watch them for hours. The ones in my yard will usually eat out of my hand after a little bit. Hahahaha! I love blue jays too, beautiful animals.

A lot of Florida has tons of lakes, Canals, and channels, combined with the great weather makes it conducive to reptiles. Also the reason your top UK Waterski Champions like to train there in the winter.

As you know, fresh water IS life, and wildlife flock to it. :)
