Beautiful snakes! I've never really gotten interested in Axanthic, but those two are gorgeous enough to spark interest from anyone!

Re: VPI Invasion!
I know it's kind of a hijack, but it's my thread so there. :P
Both snakes had been acting "off" since late last week and I was starting to suspect the worst, especially after dealing with the loss of Simmons. Yeah well, here we go again. Both VPIs came back from the vet today with confirmed RI. Really not happy about this as I know they had it when I picked them up. I'm assuming the stress of the move and settling in allowed the symptoms to show. Yeah, it's really mild but I'm more than mildly pissed about it. I saw it go from mild to fatal very quickly last time. The previous owner has been informed and is in complete denial even stating that the male ate for him. Well, he ate for me too. The vet laughed and just said it means he's sick and hungry. I feel bad for the rest of his snakes. Anyway, thank God for quarantine protocols and that I follow them. Time for 30 days of injections. Yay...

Re: VPI Invasion!
That bites, Dave... I hope they both make a full and rapid recovery for you. I had a scare with two of mine, but fortunately it didn't end up bad. I heard them both clicking a few days after they arrived (together), immediately boosted heat and humidity, and when I got them to the vet the the second day after I heard it they got a clean bill of health. I still don't know if they ever had the start of RI, or if I was just overreacting... but better safe!
Quarantine is vital.

Re: VPI Invasion!
I'm sure they will. Even with the illness, they're much better off with me. I'm sure they'll be ready to enter the herd in another 81 days or so. In the mean time I'll continue treatments and watch my supply of hand sanitizer and Chlorhedexine dwindle. Just so you know, they are well away from everything "little" thing that I have in the other room. :gj:

Re: VPI Invasion!
Just an update.
Both snakes are responding well to treatment and have stopped blowing bubbles. This whole thing hasn't put a dent in their appetite either which is great. He's already transitioned to f/t and she's finally taking the right size prey for her.
