Mites found on rats. Can I still feed?

I had the rat on a tissue on top of my snakes tub. As I was inspecting the rat there were just a lot of little tiny moving bugs. I called the store and told them, they were very nice about it and said that they were going to be right on it. I am currently gone until Sunday night with my brother watching over the snake so hopefully when I get back he won't have mites. I switched his hide to a ceramic rock type thing instead of his wooden one just to be safe.
