From the little you offered in pictures, I'm more inclined to lean towards overweight than anything else. There is no real correlation between age and size when it comes to animals. You have stuff like twins/runts, feeding habits, temperatures, individual metabolisms, parasites, genetics, stress levels, etc, etc.

Those pictures are impossible to judge by.

Re: Is this royal python skinny?
The person I bought him off said he was a really bad feeder and has only just started to feed steadily?

I've just weighed him and he is 200 grams and he is 14 months old?

    Looks fine to me.
Everyone is hung up on age and weight/size but most of us have FAT overweight animals.

Re: Is this royal python skinny?
One of the many things I learned from this forum is that bps grow at different rates. I have a toffino enchi I'm making payments on that was hatched 10/26/15 and weighed 123g last month. My super pastel at the same age weighed 295g.

Questions you need to ask yourself are is the snake eating? If yes then great if not then you ask yourself a second question is the snake losing a lot of weight? If not then it will eat when it's ready, just keep an eye on weight. A small snake doesn't mean it's unhealthy.

Okay, thanks alot guys I was just asking as I've never seen such a small royal at that age.

I know now not to judge by the size/weight, I guess he is healthy.

He is very shy, he will not strike feed or even explore his tank.. he striked at me last night (I was about 2 feet away) will he stop doing that eventually? as I dont 100% trust snakes and handle mine much but I hook them out and they aren't really bothered.
