    For 4 months I used EcoEarth substrate, the coconut block that you soak in water and it swells up to 4 or 5 times it's size.

    My snakes really liked it.
    Then I saw Desert Blend which is tiny little balls of walnut shells. Sort of like sand but bigger.
    My snakes love this stuff. They burrow in it and just have their heads sticking up. I have it about 1 1/2 to 2 inches deep.
    They sell a scooper with screening so you can just scoop out all poop/pee.
    Works great.

    It probably would be too expensive for breeders with many, many snakes but for someone with just a few I don't think it is that bad. I have 8 and I still buy it.
    I like the way it looks and as I said, the snakes love it. It says it can be used for snakes, lizards, turtles, etc.
