I've recently switched from aspen to a mix of cypress and fir bark. I think it looks a lot better. Her enclosure, an exo-terra large, is kind of a darker brown background and brown foam on the sides. I'm using about a 50% mix of both of both. It's been keeping my humidity kind of high though. Like 75%+, when I first switch the substrate. I think I'm gonna switch to about 25% on the cypress, to try and get the humidity levels down a bit. hope this helps

For those that use the cypress....is it really just the bags that you buy for your yard? My poor guy shed last night (second shed with me), and it was in pieces this time. It is probably due to the fact that I was gone all weekend and wasn't there to soak his moss I have to maintain the humidity. I think I want to mix in some cypress to keep the humidity up more easily, and I want to make sure I get the right stuff.

I got cypress from the pet store itself. All of the hardware and garden don't sell cypress mulch around here. Most cell cedar or fir. If you go the a garden/lawn centre, make sure you look at what the wood type is.
