Like PitOnTheProwl, Eric Allen, Deborah, and others had recommended, I would suggest going with a visual female. In my opinion, you need to have a good reputation to be willing to produce a large quantity of hets. It can be hard to sell them as anything more than normals if you don't have an established reputation. I would also only recommend going the male visual route if you had one or two gene (or better) females.

The quickest way to producing all visuals of a recessive gene is to start with a visual female. Like PitOnTheProwl said, you can replace a het male quicker than you can replace a het female. And like Eric Allen mentioned, you guarantee that the babies are het by using a visual female (retained sperm becomes a non-issue). You can get a hatchling female Clown this year, save up for a one or two gene male that is het for Clown next year and they will both be ready around the same time. It will be cheaper to do it that way because the price of males goes down a little every year, while the price of females decreases less than that of a male.

    Just my thoughts.
