Oh man I don't want to hear this. I'm planning on switching to a tub in a few weeks and my apt stays at 73 at least until summer comes then it's 80. Sorry I don't have any ideas as I'm new but will be following this thread for answers as well. Thanks for the post and sorry I can't offer any ideas.

I keep my apartment at 73-74... Thermostat at 94 which keeps my tub hotspots at 89-90... Ambient temp stays at about 78-82 Depending on Night or Day... Not sure what does it for me but it does...

    Re: Problems with tub
Old thread but piping in here with a bump as well. I too am having problems with the UTH on my 6L tub for my little fellow. The problem I'm having is that my tub (and indeed pretty much every one I've seen) has an uneven bottom. So around the perimeter where it makes perfect contact with the UTH the temperature is ~93-94 along the ~1cm ridge on the bottom of the tub. The rest of the area, which is separated by ~2mm from the UTH the temperatures are ~85-86. I could pump up the UTH to get 90 temperatures across most of the bottom, but then the little perimeter strip would be ~100 which seems problematic.

As the OP has done, I have a UTH on the bottom of the tub with a heat probe sandwiched between the pad and the bottom, but because it's not an adhesive pad there's a very very small gap between the pad and the bottom of the tub except, as I mention, around the edge of the tub where the tub "feet" contact the pad directly.

Otherwise the tub seems pretty good...80 at the cool end, 60-75% humidity. I just don't love the uneven temp from the UTH on the warm end. And yes, the UTH is regulated on a Vivarium thermostat :)
