Clutch #1 is starting to come out of the eggs

Once they are all out put all of them in the same tub using damp paper towel as substrate, wait until they have their first shed, separate them and feed them (I usually feed them 48 hours after they shed).

Thanks Deborah, thats how I'm setting them up, as they come out of the eggs I'm moving them to this

After they shed I will separate them and give them two days and then feed. I would like to start them all on rat crawlers (I prefer to not feed my balls mice) however the runt (Hatchling #1) is only 50 grams so I may have to go with a mouse hopper for it for the first few feedings unless I can find some runt rat crawlers. Hatchling #2 is 65 grams and Hatchling #3 67 grams. Hatchlings 4,5,and 6 appear to be about the same size as #2 and 3 but they are yet to come out of their eggs so we will see.

You can try to offer them whatever you like, but ultimately getting them eating is the most important thing. I find it is easier to get them started with mouse hoppers because they are smaller so less intimidating. They are much more animated (more movement) which tends to create a stronger predatory response in the hatchlings. They also have more fur than rat crawlers which probably means more scent so a little stronger target. Once they are eating regularly getting them to switch to rat crawlers is usually not a problem. Congrats again. It looks like a pretty nice clutch.

Very good :gj:, now as far as starting them on rats it can be done, even at 50 grams (pink rats which are 1 to 4 days are very small). I usually start everything on mice now, they are more enticing and give me a higher success rate when it comes getting my hatchling to take their first meal easily, they get switched to rats by meal 2 or 3 (the advantage is that I produce my own feeders).

Here they are, they are numbered in this picture for discussion purposes, the numbers ARE NOT the same in this picture as they are in the above posts. Requesting input from others please. #1 killer or bumble? ... #'s 2,3,5 I know are at least pastel but not sure if any are super? #6 Does it fit the bill for a low quality bumble or is it just spider? And #4 ofcourse is a normal. Should I wait for a shed or two before trying to make a determination on them?? Thanks for any help :gj:

I would say bumblebee. After it sheds it may be able to tell. Maybe its the lighting, but it doesn't look like a killer to me. I see no super pastels, and its a pretty spider. Congrats on the clutch!
