Thanks guys! I love this guy so much. Can't wait to see his babies. ;) If I can get a male black pastel pixel pied my year will be made!

Your update got me excited about mine all over again! I'm going to the expo I got her from on Saturday; if the breeder is there I'll ask him if he knows anything about her lineage or if he's produced any others. Unfortunately I lost his cousin's (who was running the table when I picked her up) email address, or I would have done it sooner. [emoji21]

I can't wait to see how your clutches turns out! I'll just be spending the next two years like this:

Nothing makes up the 'pixel' per se other than me calling it that (someone on here gave me that name, I first called it digital pied but I liked their name better and they said I could 'steal it'). The original breeder (Dan Wolfe) produced two of these oddly broken up pattern piebalds out of a double het for pied and albino. He called them 'gold dust' but that name has since been taken by another morph combo since he never worked to prove these guys out. I have no idea what happened to the female he produced. However this male was breed by Mike Russo last year and produced two more broken pattern pied babies...so something is going on here but no one has taken the time to really prove it out.

The project is mine now and I'm breeding him to a black pastel pied and if I get any black pastel pieds with this same broken pattern I will be a step closer to this being a new type of pied. If I can find a breeding size female of some other morph to mix this with to see if there is a pattern change with other morphs (I do know that if you breed him with a normal you get bright yellow reduced patterned het pieds, I found *one* of his daughters by that breeding, but I couldn't get a hold of the owner to see if they ever got any 'pixel' pieds out of her).

Basically this is a 'Dinker' pied project. ;)

Hey I remember that name. Nice to see him progressing nicely. I wonder what you Would get it he bred a female pied? Normal pieds, pixel pieds, mix of both?

    Ahahaha, Chakadii....that picture is hilarious.

Yodawagon! You're the one who came up with the name...it all comes back to me now.

He has been breed to a female pied in the paste and he produced a mix of normal pieds and pixel pieds. I need to get in touch with Russo and see if he still has the pics of that clutch.

I met the breeder of my girl today! She came from a pair of hets he got at Hamburg, from "(8/eight) ball pythons", which is no longer in business. He has had a couple pixel pieds pop up over time, and did mention that he's heard it may have something to do with being het albino, but hasn't proven that out yet with his breeders.

I linked him to your FC thread so he could read your guy's back story. 😊

Here are the originals (him and his sister as babies). I lost the pics of the babies Mike Russo made (I should ask if he still has the pics).

Thanks Chk! I'm very much hoping my boy is het for albino (he's got a good shot), once I get some babies I'm going to use them to buy or trade a female pied het for albino to try and prove him out (I would do albino het for pied but I really don't want to end up producing any normal looking double hets that can be hard to find homes for). It can't just be het for albino that causes the pixel type pattern though since I've seen a lot of pied het albino that don't have it (although I could still see there being a link).

As for the original pair from Dan I don't know what happened to the female, but I'm at least the fifth owner for the male, but I only know of one clutch out of him. I would love to find her if someone out there still has her!!

Even it if it doesn't prove to be perfectly genetic I'm still thrilled to have this boy! He's my idea of the 'perfect pied'. heehee.

I have another pied girl who is 66% het albino, she is getting the dalmatian spots but isn't pixelated.

The breeder reached out again this morning - not only does he have a male pixel, but he had sold a pied female to a friend of his and it turns out she's a pixel too (at least, assuming they are all the same gene as yours). Looks like it's some flavor of genetic!
