I use only a RHP on the right side of my 36x12x24. The entire cage is paper towel floor. Directly under the RHP I have a large brown tile on the floor, on top of the tile is one piece of paper towel that's only under the hide. The tile sticks out from under the hide so the RHP heats the tile and that heat transfers under his hide also. Top of the hide is like 92 and inside is like 88. The tile is like 90 outside the hide. My thermostat is set to 85, probe is 1/2 way down under it on back wall. The very far side ambient temp is 77 and this is now during the winter. the middle of the cage ambient is 80. (You have to hide the temp probe from the line of sight of the RHP to measure the ambient temp). RHP acts like sunlight. My relative humidity stays around 50...when it rains it jumps up to 60. If its cold and windy outside, I may have to spray a little bit. I've had my BP in this cage for 2 years, he sheds perfect every time and eats every time I offer food. I use paper towel and try to bunch some up also because he likes to get under them even inside the hides. My BP spends most of his time on the cooler side. After he eats, he will lay on the tiles at night. If he's going into a shed, he spends a week or more on the warm side. I clean this cage so fast it's so simple. I take my BP out and just put him in a holding cage under his main one and just do what I need to do.
