As for your humidity, in addition to wrapping the screen lid or covering it with saran wrap or foil, I would put damp sphagnum moss in the tank. You want it damp enough that when you squeeze it water doesn't come gushing out, and I put some on both sides. Helps tremendously--the misting only works for about an hour or less, as you stated. :)
