Still cool to see though. Carlisle, be sure to show us when you get it done!

I will definitely post pics when I get it done. If all goes well I should be getting in done in about 6-8 weeks.

What is the appeal of getting this done? How much does it cost and where do you go to get it done?

It varies from person to person for the reason they want it done. I don't have a particular reason, it's always intrigued me. Cost varies depending on who performs it (artist, doctor, etc). Most body modification artists travel so you usually have to wait until they cone to yur area. I'm lucky that my guy has a shop and it's only a 4 hour drive.

It can be reversed with surgery. Some actually slowly grow back together. I've been stretching my ear lobes off and on for the last 20 years. Their currently at 3/4". Check out bme zine for some crazy stuff.

Don't have that but had my tongue pierced years ago (it swelled up a lot, and did hurt when done but healed very fast), I ended up getting rid of that piercing 3 years later as it was causing speech issues (lisp).

When I was doing some (unrelated) research, I spoke with a doctor about how well tongues heal. I was surprised to find out that they heal very quickly.

I wouldn't have it done. I don't like anything at all in my mouth, so no piercings etc.

That said, that's ME. It's your body and if you have put enough thought into it, and you can afford it then you should go for it. I have tattoos. They have not affected me in any negative manner at all. No one ever looked at them and thought less of me or my abilities that I've noticed.

Okay, one uber-Christian old guy said a couple nasty things but I don't count him, as he was some random person who felt the need to comment to a complete stranger. No boss, no co-worker, no client... no one that matters has ever mentioned them except to ask about them because they thought they were neat.

I know one or two people who have tongue splits, but only in passing and I never asked about it. One has a lisp, but the other one doesn't. I've known people with small tongue piercings who lisp quite bad too though.

TL;DR? Do what makes YOU happy. And post pictures! Especially ones right after the surgury!

Nice post/thought annarac5 just don't understand for what reason would people get that done, forget about what kissing is going to be like your taste of foods can get ruined.. i wanted to get the tongue piercing that goes across the tongue and found out my taste buds wouldn't appreciate it that much, your connecting 2 parts of your tongue.. See now if you cut that in half just imagine what crazy outcomes could/would happen....;)
