    You can try aspen. My snakes love aspen as I give em around 2" deep and they love to burrow in it. My little sunglow will stetch out under the aspen with just her head poking out. A tip though, if you switch to aspen, be sure to get the big bags. I buy the 6 cu ft bails of American Excelsior from Bean Farm. Luckily I live close to them so they are fine with me just swinging by and picking up a couple bails since the shipping actually costs more than the aspen.
