    Depends on the Child
My son is four in a month and a half, and so far no issues. Our bp is extremely docile ( he is almost four years old himself), however I will not allow my son to have the snake alone. I am more concerned for the snakes safety with my hyper child. I have also taught my son the value in respecting, rather than fearing, things that may harm him, especially animals.

Re: Safe to own a BP with a toddler?
I wonder if it's a bit too late to add? I let my four year old cousin hold my BP for around fifteen minutes when he comes over every couple weeks. I just make sure that he isn't squeezing her or trying to grab her head. And of course I help him wash his hands very well with soap after. Although, he knows how to treat animals. He makes sure he knows where she is and that he isn't crushing her. And he knows she's a living animal, not a toy.

love the user name. looked at the user profile and appears to be a real couple. LOL, see we really can all get along. We just got to try a little and see the good and ignore/respect the differences.

Uhm... their sheds are not infected with salmonella unless it comes into contact with their feces. All reptiles carry the chance to carry salmonella but only in their feces so unless the snake has run through its own fecal matter, then you have no cause for concern. Hand washing is still a definite, just in case but to say that their sheds have salmonella bacteria on it is not true.
