    sad update
Sadly, I woke up this morning to find the little girl dead. I was waiting for the vet appointment I had set for Wednesday but she didn't make it. The pet store only had a 7 day guarantee but luckily the guy knew it didn't die from being improperly cared for so he gave me a store credit. With it I bought another bucket list constrictor since I want to take a month or so before replacing my bci. I took home a baby granite spotted python and am hoping this was just a fluke. I gave the dead animal back to the store incase they wanted to do any research to figure out the issue that caused its death. I had it in quarantine so I am not worried about the other animals in my collection. Anyways, thanks again for all of your help and support. Hopefully I will never have to deal with that again.

Wow! Now that was something I totally didn't expect. I don't think any one here expected that. So sorry for your loss. Our loss, as we all feel bad for you and the reptile. You have to know you did the best you could and just maybe it was unavoidable. We don't know all the answers so we do our best and sometimes that just isn't enough. Also, we all have had animals pass away on us for different reasons so you are not alone in your grief. Stay in peace and not pieces.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes they just don't thrive, there may have been something wrong internally that didn't manifest right away. My sympathies.
I'm glad the store helped you out, good luck with the new little one.

    I'm so sorry. :(

Sounds like a nice, caring pet store.

    Update
Hey everyone. I wanted to give you all an update. My baby granite spotted python escaped last week with some kind of Houdini maneuver. Now 10 days had passed of looking at the empty enclosure and i figured id go for 1more try with a bci. I searched the classifieds and found a good deal and should be receiving my new baby female bci momentarily. Of course it would be my luck that as i got out of bed this morning to anxiously wait for my new arrival, I picked up my t shirt off the floor and out flops the missing spotted python! The trio will be complete shortly and i will be a happy man. I will update with pictures of the gang in a few days omce i let the new arrival acclimate. Happy to finally put some good vibes into this thread and hope it continues.

I'm sorry I missed this. Did you get a necropsy done?

I did not. I offered it back to the store i purchased it at in case they wanted to know. The spotted python they gave me in exchange is healthy as an ox so i dont believe it was the facility im more leaning towards just bad luck with the one animal. This time with my new bci i avoided going to the same store and ordered from a reputable online source. Even though i dont think it had anything to do with the store i wanted to avoid any chance of a repeat.

Sorry for your loss and grats on the new one. Remember though, COMPLETELY disinfect EVERYTHING before you put the new snake in. Whatever caused your old snakes death might be contagious. You don't know since there was no necropsy done. So better safe than sorry two times. I would boil any accessory as well as soaking it in F10sc and completely sanitize the cage. Good luck.

    This.

As an FYI, F10SC doesn't kill crypto. Neither do bleach, peroxide, oxy-clean, or vinegar. Only ammonia does. Guess what gets used on all secondhand equipment I purchase?
