No, BCC are typically more chill, especially as they age. A 12' snake knows it's an apex predator.

It's the dwarf localities that can remain defensive into adulthood, which makes sense because a 5' snake is at a higher risk for becoming a tasty snack for a bigger predator.

I would feed any true BCC from Suriname or Guyana mice for the first year of it's life.

I have a friend here that has 2 beautiful Suriname BCC from Gus Rentfro. He finds them a bit more timid/less social than his Argentine boas but by no means defensive.

Years of selective, captive breeding, knowledge and improved caging have made BCC boas much easier to care for.

THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR by Vincent Russo, and anything written on the internet by Gus Rentfro are excellent sources for the care of boa constrictors.

    Sorry,

I forgot to add that you have a nice snake there.

I also agree that the island boas tend be more irascible than the mainland boas. A Colombian BCI has probably the most even temperament across the board when it comes to boa constrictors, but it really comes down to the individual snake in the end.
