If her head got caught in the rack, it could've caused internal injuries that you would've never known about such as fractured skull or tears in the meningeal membrane (insert corresponding snake anatomical phrase) that could lead to leaking cerebrospinal fluid, increased cranial pressure, and so on.

I'm sorry for your loss, but when it comes right down to it all life is fragile. Hopefully the how of it is figured out and the responsible party is diligent of about avoiding a repeat.

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were doing all you could, but there's know way to tell what was wrong without knowing what actually happened.

Ball pythons, actually most snakes, have very soft skulls from what my own vet told me. A small bump on the head probably wouldn't kill her but the heads can be damaged quite easily if hit hard enough.

I learned about that from the documentary about titanaboa lol and how they don't find most snakes skulls because of how fragile they are they are usually the first to decompose or break up

Sorry to hear she passed. Sometimes we just can't do anything. I'm not sure even a vet could have done much to treat a serious head injury on a python.

Even with formalin that snake will rot in a jar that size. I can tell by the color that is has not been fixed already and you would need a 1:10 ratio of tissue:formalin to preserve her. It would take weeks being a scaled creature and it may not turn out without inserting slits in the abdomen. I hope you buried it or something cause if not expect a messy explosion in a a week or so (temperature dependent).
