If he can get out he shouldn't drown. I'm confused, though, is he in his water dish soaking? Or do you have a pool of water in his moss? If there's a pool of water in the moss, there really doesn't need to be. The moss just needs to be damp, it doesn't have to be sopping wet, an enclosed humid hide should hold humidity very well.

It was just a small bowl of moss with some water in the bottom. It was just an experiment to see if it'd hold more humidity. The current enclosure is terrible at it and I'll be finding something else shortly or just use a tub for the time being.

Yeah the pool of water would just aid mold growth, so I would try not to have a pool in there. Besides, soaking in water is different than having humidity in the air, they get more hydrated by humidity than they do by soaking.

I think a tub would be a good idea, it would be the easiest option. :) They're nice and cheap and you hardly have to do anything to them. Just make sure to watch the ventilation, otherwise even in a tub the humidity won't stay high enough.

The best enclosures for BRBs are tubs for young ones and PVC for older ones. Wood can work, but it can take a little more work to seal from the extra humidity. I'm sure a regularly sealed one could hold up to it but I'm personally too paranoid. Lol. My enclosures have held up against 70-80% humidity for my BCI so there's that, it's just still too low for a BRB unfortunately.

I have a small tub already that will do 100% humidity if it has any kind of moisture retaining substrate in it. I think the current plan will be to put my BRB in there for the time being and when my BPs get too big for their T8 the BRB will get the T8 and the BPs will go in a rack.

I really like watching the BRB and he is an active little fella, but I want him to be healthy.

Actually did a little re-arranging and kept the water bowl as well as the shallow water dish and just put the moss around the cage in a few spots. Just misting once a day and keeping a wet towel over the screen it's holding at 85-90% humidity and he seems pretty happy. He likes to use the moss as his cool hide and prefers to burrow into it rather than go in an actual hide. He ate his second pinky mouse and I'm starting to think he's ready for fuzzies. The pinky didn't really leave any bump and was smaller than his thickest part.
