That prey item is a dog. Padded feet so it is not sheep, goat, deer, etc. Only thing left is canine or feline and the shoulders and haunches are canine, by coat and condition it was probably a pet too. Strays don't look that good. I personally am not offended by that pic, but I think a bunch of people excited by it is a bit objectionable and a very bad image for herp keepers that I don't want to be be associated with.
edited - no need to waste bandwidth on repeating the image.

This has been debated before... and I really don't want to bring up old, already debated topics, but I really think that's a rabbit. It doesn't have pads like a canine's, I believe rabbits have thick fur instead of actual "pads." Also, if you look at the background, I'm pretty sure that's a rug, and unless those slabs of stone are huge, that snake can't be incredibly big.
EDIT - Also, please take note of the pine needles on the ground. Giant pine trees...?

Lindsay,
Im also lead to believe that it is a rabbit, This had been beatin to death by MANY different forums and expirenced herp keepers, and no real answered has poped up yet, But considering the tail and the chacteristics of the hind leg, it makes me lean towards a rabbit. Also the head is very small.
My intent wasn't to start another debate, Like i said this topic has already been beatin to death , So i guess it will always stay a mystery until we can get in conatct some how with the owner ;)

Right after I posted that I was afraid I might start a flaming debate :ashamed I just didn't want anyone to think it was definately a dog, lol. I wonder who originally took the pic :?
Oh well, I'll quit topic stealing now, lol.

Personally to me I thought it was a dog at first  ! But then when examening the paws and the padding of them, or maybe they are even hoofs, I am 90% sure that it is not a dog. As for it being a rabbit, definetly not in my opinion, its just too big, adn you can tell that that is a nice sized snake. Also look at the leg structure of the animal, the legs are too stout for the body of that animal to be any sort of K9. I think it might be some type of calf, except there is that weird tale. It must be some weird type of exotic animal. :?:

not a dog in my opinion, just a big rabbit. the head seems to small to be a dog.

Dogs have hair growing between the pads like that animal. Look at the size of the leaves and paving stones in the picture for proportions, that would be a damn big rabbit. Where are it's ears. They should be showing from behind that top coil. That is also a long tail for a rabbit.
Sorry if this is rehashing, but I have never seen that pic before myself.

i have no clue what it is
BUT..............those stones in the background lokk like regular outdoor patio stones which are usually around 1 square foot big so that would seem to be a decent sized snake in my opinion
EDIT: my bad i just realized that those blocks look more like sidewalk blocks
