i hear ya but FYI i was under the impression that once they're eating u dont wanna touch them b/c they could feel vulnerable a regurg. the prey

you picked him up after he had constricted?? whoa... that's not a good idea. i know if i even so much as TOUCHED my snakes, they'd spit the food out and come after me. my male, Apollo, always looks around before he starts to swallow. he'll kill the mouse and then stare out of his rubbermaid to make sure no ones going to take his food. if i went near him, he'd try to take off my finger because it's HIS food, not mine.

if i were you, i would really think about putting him in either his enclosure or an extra rubbermaid and leaving him there. little snake or not, it's probably stressing him out a lot being on your lap while he's eating. snakes don't "like" people in general... they're not meant to be domesticated. so... if you had a pet alligator, would you let it chow down on your lap?? somehow i dont think the alligator would like that too much.... :)

haha... much different. if they had it their way, snakes would live far far away from us and never come near us. :)
