My breeder has recommended that with the boas, once they get to their larger and stronger sizes, avoid glass as if they strike the glass for whatever reason, it could very possibly shatter and they could hurt themselves very bad (or fatally). I've never heard about people on the forum having this happen, but my breeder has witnessed it firsthand.

Wow. I've been working with boas for a LONG time and I have never seen that. I have been around full grown burms that hit the glass and nothing shattered. There would have to be a small pre-existing crack in the glass that would help it shatter with impact. I think if you use 1/4 inch tempered glass there is no chance of that happening.

A local breeder of Burms, Tics, and Balls told me the same thing about glass breakage.

Since he is building my new enclosures, I challenged him about Boas and Carpets. He admitted that glass breakage would be unlikely, but that Plastic flexes, which would be be "easier" on their mouth, face, and or teeth.

That was enough for me since I've had my Boa and my Carpet slam into the side of the tank at dinner time.

This is a Pro-Line cage from Constrictors NW.

It is housing a 3 year old male, locality BC. Barranquilla Colombia to be specific.

The cage is 48" wide 30" deep and 20" tall.

I use RHPs for heat. This size will house a rather large female, but Pro-Line also offers 5 footers too.

The HDPE is tops for plastic IMO.

Animal Plastics also makes nice stuff.
