I probably feed my snakes a little more than the average keeper especially when they're younger but I don't power feed them at all. If I had a 16g MBK they'd get 1.6-3g of food every 5 days. That's basically just a large pinky or 2 small pinks. I also mix up my feeding amounts and frequencies. I feed sooner after smaller meals and have a longer intervals between feedings after larger meals. My kings eat mostly mice as well but they'll both eat chicks and sometimes rats. I can't give them rats consistently though or they'll shut down on me. They definitely prefer mice. :)

Thanks for sharing! Yes I have used that tactic before as well. Give them more time to digest the larger food before feeding again.

Also your cali king is awesome!

I didn't have enough time tonight to fully thawed out the pinkies and hoppers. It was kinda cold when I felt it through the zip lock bag. I left it out in room temperature for about 30 mins-45 mins. Didn't felt like it was frozen though just freezing cold. Well I fed it to my hognose and kingsnake. They all took it no problem! Why must ball python be so difficult! Can't wait til end of the month and I'll do my monthly check-in weight.

J- You may want to make sure your feeders are thawed completely. I've read that still frozen feeders can cause regurgitation or illness in snakes. Definitely not worth potentially harming your snake. Your king won't be on pinks long at all.

Yeah thanks I was a little bit concern because usually I let it sit in room temperature for way longer then last night. These guys are so easily to feed I don't even have to bask the hoppers under heat lamp like I do for my ball pythons. I will keep a close eye out for them for the next few days.
For my other snakes with larger feeder like rat pups or small rats I'm always concern not to cook the rat in extreme hot water as well. That can also get them sick.

I put them in ziploc bags, fully thaw my feeders in warm water, then super heat them with a hair dryer and serve them to the snakes at 95-100 degrees. Works like a charm!

I do similar to your method but only for ball pythons.. set it in room temp in a zip lock bag. Warm up the rodents in a zip lock bag with warm-hot water for like 5-10 secs.

With my hognoses and kingsnakes all are aggressive eaters and they don't need their food to be at a temperature of a live rodent.

I just built a 4 rack rat rack and so excited! I might add 2 more tubs. Im like 90 percent done with it! Not breeding any rats at the moment but I am breeding mice. They will have their own rack soon.

Alright it's almost end of the month. I fed her a small fuzzy yesterday on the 26th while she was in shed. Well tonight (may 27th)she finish her shed. I will feed her one more time before the month ends and weigh her!
