That is one reason I tell people not to feed in seperate containers
it is an invitation to getting bitten. I usually try to feed when the snake is in a hide in its cage. Then I open the cover enough to put the mouse in with the tongs. I keep the cover between me and the snake, If you have a hide and the cover between you and the snake, then it is much harder to get tagged. I am actually thawing a mouseicle right now. Delphi is in her tank, in her hide. When I pull the lid off, she usually pokes her head out a little to see what is going on. She is a pretty calm snake, but once she smells mouse she will strike at anything the moves. So I will open the lid about one inch, and wave the mouse in front of the hide with the tongs. It will be gone fast. I will keep the lid between myself and Delphi. and I have the hide pointed so that I can angle the far side of the lid away from the side and put the tongs in as far as I can reach away from myself. Delphi would have to strike the whole length of the cage, through the hide, and through the lid to get me.
I don't go into Delphi's cage for any reason for at least a day after feeding, because she gets real wound up eating.
Sincerely,
David

I have to use bike gauntlets to open the rubs on feeding day.
It's like a room full of jack in the boxes with teeth. :(
