My boyfriend's father made it through his surgery. He had a few minor complications but he is responding to basic commands and yes or no questions. He has a breathing tube in right now to aid his breathing but it may come out soon if he is able to breathe without issues. Thank you to all of you that have followed this thread. Your warm comments and compassion is greatly appreciated.

You are so correct. He is hooked up to all kinds of tubes and his breathing is horrible so they have him hooked up to a bipap machine. It took everything I had not to stand there and cry seeing him like this. The nurse said he is in for a long hard recovery. He seems to understand all of this and is taking it very well.
