sugar is not a recessive gene.

Essentially sugars and calicos are the same gene but different bloodlines and origins. Though there are some who believe they are 2 different genes. Mike Wilbanks has openly stated he believes this

I've said they were different all along. I'll dig up my comparisons and research later though... Sorry for the lame post. I really did a ton of research and scoured plenty of pics... But yah, they're different. Subtly, but they are.

I too think they are different. I would say that Butter/Lesser, Banana/Coral Glow, and Mystic/Phantom are the pairs of the same genes. Whereas, Cinnamon/Black Pastel and Sugar/Calico are different genes. You have to look at the combinations to see these differences, and even then, some combinations look similar, but others look different. Those that look different, lead me to believe that they are different, even if it is only 1 or 2 combinations. With Cinnamon/Black Pastel, I think the Super Pastel combination with each gene shows that the two genes are different.

I'm sure there are better examples than I have pointed out, but these are just the first ones that come to my mind. I think that the bottom line is that if there is one combination that is notably different, then they are similar but separate genes.

SOEMBODY GETS IT!!! :bow:!! I am on the same page as you man. That's basically what my argument towards them being different is about. They have subtle differences individually, but when you combo them, they definitely have a different look.
